so my Question is,
Why would you think Steve wanted to help Beth? What would you do if a stranger comes to help when you were in the situation where Beth was going through?
I think that Steve wanted to help Beth because he see’s how stressed and how scared she is and that they are all in misery so why not make someone’s day. Steve sounds like a nice guy because doing stuff your not supposed to can help people, just because a person does bad things doesn’t mean they are a bad person and those kinds of people are the best kind because they learn from there mistakes. I would accept the strangers help to find my family it could be a bad idea but it would help me look for my family and that’s all that maters. In my head I would probably be thinking don’t do and then in another part I would be thinking go save your family. That’s all I would do because I need my family and not every one is a bad person.

ReplyDeleteMy answer to the question is, I think Steve wanted to help Beth because, like he said in the book, when she asked why he was bringing her to Phuket, that he “figured she wasn’t a criminal or a looter. Just thought she was somebody worried about her family. She just wanted to do what he’d want to do if it were his family.”
If I was in the same situation that Beth was going through, I would probably do the same thing as her. But, I would refrain from asking questions, as I wouldn’t want to make him angry. Although, I might be a little paranoid, as a random stranger is taking me somewhere for nothing in return.

I agree with Kaitlin. I think Steve wanted to help because he knows that she isn’t going to do any thing bad and wants to help as many people as possible. So when he saw this girl who just wanted to get to her family he jumped at the opportunity to help. I think if I was in Beth's shoes I would have a small part inside of me saying "be cautious" because this could be dangerous. But I think over all I would probably ignore that and jump at the opportunity right away. If it meant I would be able to make sure my family was alright or trying to help them and other people so over all I would probably do the same as Beth if I was in that situation.

ReplyDeleteI think personally that Steve saw what was happening in Thai land and wanted to do anything he could to help Beth or anyone in that situation and plus he had extra room why not ? if he dint he probably would feel guilty about it the rest of his life at least i would because who knows what this means to some to be flown across a country to see there family who they desperately need to rescue but to some degree i think Steve is just a Good man because he offers to pick her back up to in a few days when shes found her family something more interesting is do u think shell be able to find her family i think her little brother died or at least got knocked out . I dont think she thought it was dangerous if she thought she was in any danger im sure she would have taken a hand gun from the airport there must have been guns laying around everywhere what with the millitary everywhere?
ReplyDeleteI think that Steve wanted too help beth because he saw that she was really needing it and he could she that she was nervous and scared, and he saw what disasters were happening in Thailand and that many people needed help finding there family's our retracing there personal belongings and other kinds off stuff.I myself would have accepted help from a stranger because when your in these type of situations their's times when you have to make these types off split second situations in order to protect the lives of others and yourself, Steve must have been a good man because he didn't have to go out and help beth he could have just protected his own life and not care about all the other mis fortunate people around the country that had been struck with this disastrous wave that probably took the lives of many loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of you guys as every stranger's aren't bad and evil.And Steve wanted to help Beth because he saw and felt that she was a good person and a trustful girl and he wanted to help her so he did.He found Beth in a worried situation and felt like maybe she was worried about her family and searching for them so he felt like helping her.In that kind a situation i would probably go with that stranger because i don't have like any clue or just sit there doing nothing just for making a hope that they are alive its better i would go with that stranger to search my family.:)And last but not the least
